Special drives to be conducted in villages for clean and green

Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Monday directed special officers and village secretaries to bring about awareness among the people on making villages clean and green.The Minister, who held a video conference with all districts Panchayat Raj department officials, said from August 15, special drives should be conducted in all villages with the motto of clean and green villages. 


The government will recruit sanitary and multi-purpose workers for every 5,000 population and they will be given Rs 8,500 salary through village panchayats. He asked officials to prepare guidelines in this regard. The Minister also said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has given nod to recruit 17,000 sanitary and multi-purpose workers and within two days the government will announce guidelines for recruitment of these employees.


Rao specified works to be carried out during special drive – filling abandon wells, dismantle old and used houses, drainage cleaning and pits filling. “Every village should have one nursery with at least 20,000 saplings and distributed to villagers for planting,” he said.
